Dec 9, 2016. #1. Hello I have a few questions tuning a Echo CS590 Timberwolf. I have a 600p, and two cs590s. I can't lean down the 590s to really clean up in the cut. One of the 590s gets close to perfect but the other 4 strokes in the cut with H needle screwed all the way in and L 3/4 out. My 600p is super simple and was lean enough to scream ...

The older models like the 91/92 were 100cc. My 71-A is 92cc, then if you want to include rebadged saws the 6000 is 100cc if I remember right. Thomas knows more on the older Poulans so he can shed some more light on them . The largest of the REAL Poulans is the 91/92. Yes, Thomas is pretty much the authority on those.I would be able to share all 16-24" bar on either saw without issue, as long as the 501p only had the 20-24" bars for added reach on little stuff. I would be looking at: - Echo 501p - 50cc, 10.4lbs, 3-3.5hp, cutting 2-12" wood, small mount husky compatible (minor mods) - $350 or so with 20% off.It seems most 16 inch chains are 56 links. I'm guessing maybe the bar is a tad wider (taller) than normal? Anyhow - on Bailey's it shows both 56 and 57 link chains for that model. While I can buy the 57 I have another chainsaw, Echo CS-400 with a 16 inch bar, which uses 16 inch chain with 56 links.This is for stickies that are in the chainsaw forum. A healthy 038 mag will pull a 28" bar and full comp chain in soft wood no problem. Hard wood will slow it down a little, just like any other saw. I run a 28" light bar and RS chain on mine. I generally prefer an all around saw in the 4.5+hp range. For small limbing and whatnot like when I'm just cutting pine logs going to the mill I like the little PS-510 or those older 36/34's.

This saw was new when I first used it on this tree and in my humble opinion the Echo was worth it's weight in gold. Some specs of interest. Just a saw that works when needed with enough power is. A few saws from Husqvarna fit that scenario, 460 Rancher, 555, 565 are the ones that come to mind. Priced lower than the "XP" variants but have the same hard parts like cases cranks and cylinders, these saw were built to work and last.

I have seen a lot of stuff about AMSOIL and have thought of switching to it ...First I soak the chain over night in a mixture of 1 cup of ammonia to 1 gallon of water. Remove chain and rinse in WD 40. Hang to dry. Then sharpen. Soak in oil over night, then hang to drip off excess oil. The chains look and feel like new !

A Jonsered 2159 has a 20" max recommendation. I believe the older true 65cc Husqvarna 365 is 24" max. The newer 365XT and 2166 versions are 70cc and have a 28" max. Other Swedish saw to consider in red are 2258, 2260 and 2165. Orange Swedish saw would be 555 at 59.8cc, 562, and maybe a 460 which is a plastic cased home owners 60cc saw...A reliable source informed me Klotz Original Techniplate is the oil used in 50 fuel, or whatever they're calling theses days. The biggest difference between the 50, 51 and 55 was the bore size and the intake/choke change. Early 50 had a 44mm bore, both open and closed port version existed, with a choke slider on the top cover. The mid-late 50 had a open port 44mm bore with the same choke as before.
